Ambassador Christian Dussey is the Director of the Geneva Centre for Security Policy (GCSP).

Prior to this assignment, he served as Swiss Ambassador and Head of the Crisis Management Centre of the Swiss Federal Department of Foreign Affairs (FDFA). The Centre coordinates the governmental crisis response system during major incidents affecting Swiss citizens abroad (disasters, political upheavals, terror attacks, hostage-taking).

In 2012, he was selected to serve as a fellow at Harvard University (Weatherhead Center for International Affairs), where he spent the academic year 2012-2013.

Among other postings as a Swiss career diplomat, Christian Dussey headed the International Security Section of the FDFA, served as political counselor at the Embassy of Switzerland in Moscow (Russia) and as diplomatic adviser to the President of the Swiss Confederation.

Prior to joining the diplomatic corps of the FDFA, he served for five years at the Strategic Intelligence Service of the Federal Department of Defense. Christian Dussey is also a general staff officer in the Swiss armed forces. He is regularly invited to give lectures on crisis management at various universities and business schools. He was educated at the Fletcher School of Law and Diplomacy, Tufts University (MA), at the University of Fribourg, Switzerland (MA), and at Georgetown University, Washington D.C. (exchange student).

L’Ambassadeur Christian Dussey est le Directeur du Centre de politique de sécurité, à Genève (GCSP).

Auparavant, Christian Dussey a été de 2008 à 2012 le Chef du Centre de gestion de crises du Département fédéral des affaires étrangères (DFAE). Le Centre pilote et coordonne l’ensemble du système de réponse interdépartemental (interministériel) de la Confédération suisse en cas de crise affectant les ressortissants suisses à l’étranger (catastrophes naturelles, conflits, attaques terroristes, accidents graves ou enlèvements).

D’août 2012 à juillet 2013, il a séjourné à Cambridge, Massachusetts (États-Unis) où il a été Fellow au « Weatherhead Center for International Affairs » de l’Université de Harvard.
En tant que diplomate, il a occupé diverses fonctions en Suisse et à l’étranger, parmi lesquelles chef de la Section sécurité internationale du DFAE, conseiller politique à l’ambassade de Suisse à Moscou (Russie) et conseiller diplomatique de la Présidente de la Confédération suisse.

Avant de devenir membre du corps diplomatique du DFAE en 1996, il a servi pendant cinq ans au sein du Service de renseignement de la Confédération (Département fédéral de la défense, de la protection de la population et des sports). L’Ambassadeur Dussey est aussi officier d’état major général de l’Armée suisse.

L’Ambassadeur Christian Dussey est titulaire d’une licence en sciences économiques et sociales de l’Université de Fribourg (Suisse). Il a également fait des études en relations internationales auprès de la School of Foreign Service de l’Université de Georgetown à Washington et de la Fletcher School of Law and Diplomacy de l’Université Tufts à Boston où il a obtenu un Master en relations internationales.
