GCSP assists Thai government on countering violent extremism in the media

Analysing contemporary radicalisation processes and introducing current trends in countering violent extremism from regional and global perspectives, GCSP experts Dr. Carl Ungerer and Mr. Jean-Paul Rouiller conducted an exchange of views among senior representatives of Thai government and Thai civil society in Bangkok on Monday 26 October.

Among the participants were Gen. Aksra Kerdphol, Senior Advisor to the Prime Minister, Lt. Gen. Sakda Sangsnit from the Royal Thai Armed Forces Headquarters and other senior officials. Civil society was represented by Mrs. Soraya Jamjuree, a community peace activist in the Malay provinces and Professor Surachart Bamrungsuk from Chulalongkorn University in Bangkok.

The meeting was hosted by Lt. Gen. Dr. Perapong Manakit of the Thai National Broadcasting and Telecommunications Commission (NBTC).

The discussion was part of the first GCSP course on countering violent extremism in Thailand.
