Learning to grasp the impact of disruptive technologies on the future of international security
This course analyses the impact of disruptive technologies, focusing on their risks and opportunities towards national and international security. It also examines how disruptive technologies alter the use of force and the character of war.
The course outlines current and future technologies, including a methodology to identify technologies with a transformative impact on security. Examples of topics examined in the course include artificial intelligence, nanotechnology, bioelectronics, synthetic biology, genomics, big data and cyber warfare.
WHO SHOULD ATTEND
This course is designed for government and international organisation officials as well as members of the military who are in charge of strategy, security and defence policy planning and intelligence. It is also relevant to journalists, engineers, corporate leaders and people working in research and development, notably in the defence industry.
