This course examines advanced methods for mapping emerging security challenges. It explores the fundamentals of strategic planning, planning methodologies, and policymaking under uncertainty. Specifically, it exposes participants to foresight methodologies and the strategic planning process, including the circumstances under which specific tools may be applied.

In today’s fast paced world, policymakers are increasingly aware of foresight as a tool to gauge policy responses. This course provides an opportunity to learn the basics of foresight and how it can be applied. During the course, participants will also examine emerging security challenges and their potential implications – allowing you to combine theory and practice.
This course is designed for officials and executives from government, the military, international organisations, nonprofit organisations and the private sector. It may be of particular relevance for individuals with a policy planning function.
