2016-2017 Leadership in International Security Course Concludes

Congratulations to our 23 new LISC Alumni!

On Wednesday, 24th of May 2017, the graduation ceremony for the 2016-2017 Leadership in International Security Course (LISC), and the 11th Master of Advanced Studies in International and European Security (MAS) took place at the GCSP. The eight month LISC began in October 2016 and is designed to increase the knowledge and skills of high performing professionals who seek to enhance their career and engage in leadership positions in solving the world’s most pressing security challenges.

For 2016-2017, the GCSP welcomed 23 participants from 21 countries, including Burundi, Sri Lanka, Syria and Vietnam for the first time. They represented government ministries, NGOs, academia, and civil society. 14 participants also graduated with the concurrent Master of Advanced Studies in International and European Security, jointly run with the Global Studies Institute of the University of Geneva.

The LISC ceremony was opened by Dr Carl Ungerer, Head of the GCSP’s Leadership, Crisis and Conflict Management Programme, and the MAS ceremony by Professor René Schwok, Director of the Global Studies Institute of the University of Geneva, and was followed by the handover of the certificates and diplomas. The ceremony concluded with an address from both Lt Col(GS) Marc Bastin of Belgium and Ms Irina Tsertsvadze of Georgia on behalf of the class.

We wish the graduates of 2016-2017 continued success in their future endeavours and look forward to our continued relationship with them through the GCSP Alumni Association and events.
