Leadership in International Security Course (LISC) 2018-2019

21st Century Peace and Security Challenges: Building a Sustainable Future

The 33rd edition of this eight-month course in international security policy is designed for high performing professionals seeking to enhance their career and effectively respond to the world’s most pressing security challenges.

Participants also have the opportunity to take part in the concurrent Master of Advanced Studies in International and European Security (MAS), jointly run with the Global Studies Institute of the University of Geneva. The MAS programme has the highest level of accreditation awarded to degrees in Switzerland.

LEARNING OUTCOMES

This course will enable you to:

  • Develop your capacity for leadership in a security policy environment
  • Address the challenges created by the current evolution of security actors
  • Devise concrete policies to address global strategic challenges
  • Develop your network to pursue collaborative solutions

You will benefit from an innovative and interactive learning methodology, with expert-led sessions including case studies, simulations, and collaborative peer to peer learning, to turn knowledge into practice.

You will also have the opportunity to network with GCSP’s global expert community, as well as the multitude of actors present in International Geneva.

Admission

  • Open to mid-career professionals working in national ministries, international organisations, non-governmental organisations and civil society organisations. 
  • Candidates must have a relevant university degree and exposure to peace and security issues. Serving officers must have completed an advanced military staff course.
  • Participants must be proficient in both spoken and written English, the working language of the course.
