Dr Flavia Zorzi Giustiniani is Assistant Professor of International Law at Law Faculty of the International Telematic University Uninettuno, and a lecturer in European Union Law. In January 2014 she has been awarded the National Habilitation to the position of Associate Professor in International Law. She holds a PhD in International Law (2006), a Diploma in International Humanitarian Law awarded by the ICRC (2003) and two J.D.s in Political Science (2002) and Law (2011) from the University of Florence. Since 2010 she has been an appointed member of the Scientific Committee of the Italian Red Cross Society for International Humanitarian Law. Dr Giustiniani has published a book and numerous articles in journals and edited volumes.
Her areas of expertise include human rights law, migration law, disaster law and international criminal law. She leads a research project (FIRB 2012) on “International disaster law: Rules and principles of International and EU law concerning the prevention and management of natural and man-made disaster” and has co-organised a course (now at its third edition) on international disaster law at the International Institute of Humanitarian Law in Sanremo. Dr Giustiniani lectured in various universities and also taught training courses for Red Cross instructors, military personnel and public officials on international humanitarian law, international and European migration law and disaster law.
