Post-Conflict and DDR Advisor, Transition and Recovery Division, International Organization for Migration
Mr Aplon is the Post-Conflict and DDR Advisor in IOM’s Transition and Recovery Division, where he supports the Organization’s world-wide programmes. He joined IOM in June 2015. Prior to joining IOM, Mr Aplon spent eighteen years with the Office of Transition Initiatives (OTI) in USAID in multiple field programs as well as senior management positions in Washington DC.
For more than twenty three years he has worked as an analyst, planner, and team leader assessing, designing, leading and evaluating programs in more than twenty-one crisis or conflict environments as diverse as the Balkans, Burma/Myanmar, Afghanistan, Indonesia, Haiti, Sri Lanka, Iraq, Pakistan, DRC, Nepal, Cyprus, Colombia, Kyrgyzstan, Yemen, Tunisia and Ukraine with humanitarian, transition, and recovery operations.
Mr Aplon holds a B.A. in Social Sciences from the University of California, Berkeley and a M.A. in International Development and Social Change from Clark University, USA
