Dr Wendy L Schultz

Position(s):

Director of Infinite Futures

Dr. Schultz is an academically trained futurist with over thirty years of global foresight practice. She has designed and facilitated futures research projects for NGOs, government agencies, and businesses. Current clients include the UK Department of Environment, Food, and Rural Affairs; the Department of Justice Canada; and Singapore’s Risk Assessment and Horizon Scanning Centre.  Wendy has also worked for the UK’s National Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Children; Kamehameha Schools (one of the US’s largest private schools); the Industrial Research Institute; Pepsico; and Natural England.  Clients for her intensive foresight training include Policy Horizons Canada; the Forum for the Future; Fast Future Research; and Argentina’s Ministry of Science and Technology.

Dr. Schultz’s conference keynotes, workshops, and publications encompass topics as varied as emerging change and evolving patterns of risk in the rail industry; innovations and the future of art; future competitiveness for urban regions; the future of transport; the future of learning and higher education; and the role of women in designing our emerging technological futures, among others.

Her award-winning articles on futures methods and applications have been published in Futures, Foresight, and the Journal of Futures Studies. In a five-year faculty appointment in the University of Houston’s Studies of the Future masters program, she helped revamp the curriculum and redesigned the graduate futures methods course. She has also lectured in futures studies at Nanyang Technological University in Singapore, and while on a Fulbright at the Finnish Futures Research Center in the University of Turku.  Her MA and PhD research in the Alternative Futures program at the University of Hawai’i at Manoa focussed on leadership, vision, and creativity.

Wendy is a member of the Association of Professional Futurists, and hosted their 2012 Gathering at the University of Oxford. She is also a Professional Member of the World Future Society; a Senior Fellow at the Center for Post-normal Policy and Futures Studies; a Fellow of the World Futures Studies Federation and its VP of Operations; and a Fellow of the Royal Society for the Encouragement of Arts, Manufactures, and Commerce.
