Senior Programme Officer, Leadership, Crisis and Conflict Management Programme; Peacebuilding Cluster Responsible
Ms Carlotta Ferrero joined the GCSP in July 2013 in the Leadership in Conflict Management Programme.
She has sixteen years of professional experience in governance, security sector reform, rule of law and human rights. She spent more than 11 years in a variety of field positions in Albania, Afghanistan, Azerbaijan, Jordan, Pakistan, Southern Sudan, and Somalia/Kenya. She has worked for the European Commission, the United Nations, the World Bank, the Italian Ministry of Foreign Affairs/DGCS and INGOs.
Her thematic expertise covers justice reform in post-conflict environments with emphasis on legislative, judicial and correctional reform; security sector reform with particular attention to Disarmament, Demobilization and Reintegration (DDR), and governance and democratization processes, including electoral support in Southern Sudan.
She has extensive experience in programme management, including needs assessment, programme formulation, implementation, monitoring and evaluation. Building the capacity of local authorities and civil society organizations was one of her core activities.
She has also organized and delivered several training courses on juvenile justice, international human rights standards and correctional reform, basic principles of common law; women’s rights and prevention of gender-based violence; reform/training on media and conflict/gender sensitive reporting.
Carlotta holds a Master’s degree in law and a postgraduate diploma in management of development.
