Future Storyworlds – examining existential risk through design thinking

The Geneva Centre for Security Policy, in collaboration with ProHelvetia, the NIFFF and CineGlobe film festival, hosted a 2-day workshop at CERN on disruptive technology and future threats to humanity.

Participants discovered the latest research in neuroscience, quantum computing, space exploration, machine learning, and food conservation. Joining the international panel of experts were Dr. Nayef Al-Rodhan, GCSP’s Head of Geopolitics and Global Futures, and GCSP Fellow Adam Koniuszewski of The Bridge Foundation. The event brought together Swiss screenwriters and students from the Geneva School of Art and Design (HEAD) to consult with scientific advisors, games producers and filmmakers to adapt their dystopic scenarios into VR and 360° experiences, with the jury awarding Ms Salômé Guillemin of the HEAD a CHF 3’000 incentive for development.
