GCSP Alumnus is promoted to commander of the 5th Bomb Wing of the United States Air Force

U.S. Air Force Colonel Matthew Brooks, a graduate of GCSP's International Training Course in Security Policy, has been chosen to command the 5th Bomb Wing at Minot Air Force Base, North Dakota.

In June of 2016, Colonel Brooks was named the new commander of the 5th Bomb Wing of the United States Air Force. A member of the Air Force since 1996, Colonel Brooks has a distinguished service record, flying over 750 combat hours in Operations Enduring Freedom and Iraqi Freedom. He has received several awards and decorations, including the fourth highest award in the U.S. military, the Bronze Star. While a Lieutenant Colonel, Brooks attended the 28th International Training Course in Security Policy at the GCSP from July 2013 to June 2014. Three months later, he was promoted to Colonel on October 1st of 2014. As commander of the 5th Bomb Wing, the Colonel will ensure the combat readiness of the unit, and oversee combat operations of the wing's fleet of B-52 bombers.
