Mr Cederberg was in Měřín, Czech Republic, addressing the topic of Hybrid Operations at the Prague Security Studies Institute (PSSI), as part of their summer school on “NATO’s Challenges: Ukraine and Beyond.”
Since 2005, NATO’s Public Diplomacy Division has joined forces with the Prague Security Studies Institute to offer an intense summer school programme for a select group of graduate students to grapple with pressing issues on the global security agenda.
GCSP’s Aapo Cederberg addressed the students who are from NATO member states and partner countries, and spoke about contemporary hybrid warfare.
Aapo Cederberg explained the comprehensive security approach taken in Finland, and led the students through a case study, allowing them to apply their skills and knowledge to a hybrid warfare scenario. He outlined the best principle of protection against hybrid operations as being resilience throughout the whole society – in other words, “hybrid defence.”
The PSSI Summer School offers a high-profile study course for students currently enrolled in master’s degree programmes in political science, international relations or related fields. International security experts and practitioners from academia and government give presentations and engage the students in interactive workshops and simulations.
