A GCSP Public Discussion with Indian Ambassador Santosh Jha

On 23 February, The Geneva Centre for Security Policy (GCSP) received Ambassador Santosh Jha, Head of the Indian Ministry of External Affairs’ Policy Planning & Research Division for a public discussion on political changes and economic uncertainties.

Moderated by General (retd) Philippe Meyer, acting deputy director and COO of the Centre, Ambassador Santosh Jha discussed a number of topics including: India’s ‘Act East’ policy; the dramatic upturn in its relations with the Gulf; its burgeoning partnership with the U.S.; its traditional close partnerships with Russia and France; its strategic partnership with Japan; and its continuing engagement with China.

After presenting an overview from a geostrategic context, Ambassador Jha fielded questions from the audience and ended his talk with a note of optimism about the future.
