A delegation of the China Institutes of Contemporary International Relations, led by Vice-President Fu Mengzi, visited the GCSP on Friday 17 June 2016.
The seminar-discussion focused on the territorial disputes in the South China Sea, including in the evolving context of China – US relations, as well as, the nuclear issue in the Korean Peninsula. The seminar-discussion brought forward substantive and candid exchanges on these sensitive topics and took place in a very friendly atmosphere. Both institutions agreed to further strengthen cooperation in the field of education, dialogue and analysis.
Besides being briefed by GCSP Director, Ambassador Christian Dussey, on the center’s institutional developments, the delegation participated in a seminar-discussion with GCSP addressing major security issues in East-Asia. The two-day visit in the Geneva international included a visit to the Office of the High Commissioner for Human Rights, as well as a presentation of major migration issues at the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees. CICIR delegation, besides Mr Fu Mengzi, consisted of Mr Wang Honggang, Executive Director, Ms Yao Kun, Executive Chief, Ms Chen Qingyi, Associate Research Professor and Mr Zhou Tanhao, Assistant Research Fellow.
