The Geneva Centre for Security Policy (GCSP) is an international foundation that was established in 1995 under Swiss law to "promote the building and maintenance of peace, security and stability". Join the GCSP for the Security Jam Session, 4-9 February 2010
The Security Jam Session being organised between 4 and 9 February 2010 by the Brussels-based think tank Security & Defence Agenda (SDA), in collaboration with the GCSP and other organisations from the non-profit and corporate sectors, is designed to analyse and clarify the changing threats to international peace. Some 10-15,000 representatives and experts from around the world are due to take part in this ambitious online debate, with the aim of providing input into the strategy reviews and re-thinks being undertaken today.
The result of the Jam will be an official report with ten key recommendations which will be officially presented to the EU and NATO leaderships in April 2010.More>>

The EastWest Institute (EWI), in partnership with the Federal Department of Foreign Affairs of Switzerland and the New Zealand Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Trade, released its report on “Reframing Nuclear De-alert: Decreasing the Operational Readiness of U.S. and Russian Nuclear Arsenals”. Opening of the 14th European Training Course in Security Policy (ETC),
12 January 2010
The 14th ETC opened on 12 January 2010. This year, the ETC brings together twenty-three participants from twenty-two countries for the eleven-week course in European Security policy. The participants come from ministries of foreign affairs, defence, interior and justice of their respective nations. As in prior years, the participants represent countries not only within the Euro-Atlantic area, but beyond. Indeed, this year the ETC is pleased to welcome participants from countries such as China, Kenya, Ethiopia, Qatar, and for the first time, Chile and Lebanon.

On 13 and 14 December 2009, the GCSP co-hosted a Policy Workshop on “Global Security and Regional Responses: Conflict Management in a Fractured World”, jointly with the United States Institute of Peace (USIP) and the Norman Paterson School of International Affairs, Carleton University (Canada), through the generous sponsorship by the International Development Research Centre (IDRC) and financial support by the Government of Switzerland. The workshop brought together leading experts, practitioners and scholars, in the fields of conflict management and regional security, as a culmination of a research project on security and conflict management in various regions of the world.More>>
