Human Security Advisor at Swiss Federal Department of Foreign Affairs
Katharina Vogeli has been building bridges and promoting dialogue between stakeholders with different interests and priorities for thirty years. She has a long standing commitment to Africa, and her experience on that continent, in Europe and in the United States is one of strategic leadership, building and nurturing networks and institutions as well as designing and supervising programs in peacebuilding, human security, and public diplomacy. Her experience ranges from working for the United Nations in post-genocide Rwanda to the strategic management of the Geneva Centre for Security Policy (GCSP). She has a wide vocabulary of working for peace and stabilization, acting as an advisor and a catalyst for impact. Serving as the Senior Peace Advisor at the Swiss Embassy in Kinshasa from 2013 until fall 2018, she is one of the initiators of the innovative Tujenge Amani! methodology, building community resilience to break the conflict cycle. This approach has proven particularly well adapted to the fragile context in the eastern Democratic Republic of the Congo, in the provinces of South and North Kivu.Through her consultancy CatImpact Sàrl Katharina builds on her long experience to advise governments and civil society organizations on how to improve their impact in the fields of peace policy and promotion.
