The Master of Advanced Studies (MAS) is jointly run by the Geneva Centre for Security Policy and the Global Studies Institute (GSI) of the University of Geneva.
It is based upon the internationally recognized training expertise of GCSP’s Leadership in International Security Course, a course on international security policy entering its 33rd year, and the long-standing academic expertise of the Global Studies Institute of the University of Geneva.
The MAS attracts participants who serve in the broad area of security policy, be it in government, military, private sector or international institutions and agencies engaged in security-related policy planning and decision-making.
The MAS is designed to advance participants' knowledge and skills in order to prepare them for leadership roles in government as well as international and non-governmental organizations. In particular it will:
The MAS provides an environment for critical academic reflection, the development of key skills and knowledge, and creates a network of outstanding security leaders, integrating them into a wide community of security experts and policymakers.
Participants will benefit from the expertise of highly qualified academics, experienced diplomats, government officials and distinguished practitioners from around the world during this full-time course.
Participants who complete the programme successfully will be awarded a fully accredited Master of Advanced Studies in International and European Security (60 ECTS) by the University of Geneva and the GCSP. This MAS programme has the highest level of accreditation awarded to degrees in Switzerland. As a result, the MAS degree receives automatic equivalence in most countries worldwide.
