Peeling the Onion: Mediation challenges in international politics, the public and private sectors

Often professionals find themselves in a conflict situation in which they are expected to mediate between conflicting parties, be it in everyday life situations, as a representative of a private or public company confronted with public resentment or protest or in high-level international politics as diplomats.

This course aims at:

  • enhancing personal mediation skills,
  • improving intuition, judgments and decision making skills in conflict situations,
  • enhancing advisory skills for mediation,
  • providing an overview of definitions, main principles, techniques and challenges of mediation,
  • mapping out different practical experiences and case studies in comparative perspective, and 
  • engaging participants in inter-active simulation games.

Costs

1’500 CHF. Apply by 16 July 2019 to qualify for a 15% discount. Alumni qualify for a 20% discount. A limited number of partial tuition waivers may be available.
