Stretch Collaboration: Partnering with unlikely allies to address complex challenges

How to work with people you don’t agree with, like, or trust

Collaboration is increasingly difficult and increasingly necessary. Leaders across sectors often need to reach out to new allies and partners to address our complex challenges.  But how can we learn to collaborate effectively with people who think differently from us, when we do not see common ground, and when trust is low?

This course will equip you with new understanding of the capacities you need to engage in “stretch collaboration”: an unconventional approach to collaboration that enables you to work more effectively in complex contexts with diverse partners.

We will practice the three key stretches involved in stretch collaboration:

  • embracing conflict and connection
  • experimenting the way forward
  • stepping into the game

We will engage in a series of practices that participants can continue to work on after the session.

Course registration will be at 8:30, and course will last until 17:00.

After this session, you will:

  • Understand the importance of embracing both connection and conflict in collaboration.
  • Understand the importance of experimenting in finding a way forward when engaging in stretch collaboration.
  • Understand the importance of stepping into the game to become a co-creator of the future.

This one-day course is ideal for leaders from any sector who are committed to addressing complex challenges, understand that to do this they need to collaborate, and want to explore a new approach to engaging with diverse stakeholders.
