For the first time in Europe, hackers, experts in cybersecurity and artificial intelligence, companies, governments, international organisations and NGOs as well as representatives of civil society will gather at the ICON2018 event to help design tomorrow’s cyberspace. Organised at the initiative of the NGO ICON, with GCSP and MCI Group, the ICON2018 event will take place on 13 and 14 September at the Maison de la Paix, Geneva.
Confidence in the digital world has been shaken by repeated crises such as the misuse of personal data, cyber-attacks and manipulation of public opinion through dissemination of fake news. That is why building trust among cyberspace stakeholders is now a priority to ensure the smooth development of the digital society.
The ICON2018 event - The Journey to Digital Trust - aims to create a platform for the discussion and exchange of ideas between stakeholders from different sectors, with the common goal of building digital trust to accelerate digital transformation.
Lennig Pedron, co-founder and president of ICON ONG
"Our approach is to promote dialogue among the various stakeholders in the digital world, beyond traditional silos, to make concrete recommendations,"
ICON2018 is the first step in a multi-year process preceding ICON 2019, an international event that will take place in Geneva at the end of 2019.
Co-organised by ICON NGO, the Geneva Center for Security Policy (GCSP) and MCI Group, ICON2018 is supported by the Council of Europe, the Swiss Confederation (Federal Office of Communication), the State of Geneva and several European universities and colleges.
