Workshop on the Biological Weapons Convention

Preparing for the 2017 Meeting of States Parties

Co-hosted by the GCSP and the Biological Weapons Convention Implementation Support Unit

The Eight Review Conference of the Biological and Toxin Weapons Convention held in November 2016 decided that an annual meeting of States Parties would be convened in Geneva from 4 to 8 December 2017. The mandate of this meeting is to “seek to make progress on issues of substance and process for the period before the next Review Conference, with a view to reaching consensus on an intersessional process.” This Workshop will offer an opportunity to discuss with experts what to expect from the Meeting of States Parties and what could be its outcomes.
