Former Chief of the Swiss Armed Forces Joint Staff
Major General Jean-Marc Halter is currently assigned to the chief of the Swiss Armed Forces. From 2010 to 2017, he was the Chief of the Swiss Armed Forces Joint Staff, responsible for the planning, command, and evaluation of joint operations and missions of the Swiss Armed Forces in Switzerland and abroad; under his command were the centers of excellence SWISSINT and NBC-KAMIR, the Military Police and the Special Forces Command. Prior to this he was the commander of an infantry brigade and had assignments as chief operations Land Forces, chief of staff and deputy commandant of the infantry training unit, commandant of infantry training schools and trained staffs on the C2 simulator at the Tactical Training Center. Major General Halter studied languages and history at the University of Berne and holds an MA in Security Policy and Crisis Management from the ETH Zürich and a Master of Defence Administration from Cranfield University, Great Britain. He is married and has three children.
