Former Swiss WTO senior negotiator
Mr. Matthias Meyer has headed a consulting group (PRAXIMONDO practitioners) in Geneva since 2005. He has specialized in economic and trade integration of low-income developing countries, and taught courses on economic integration of developing countries at the University of Basel. From 2002 to 2005 he negotiated for the Swiss Government at the World Trade Organization and directed a government think tank on the coherence of trade and development. He served as Executive Director on the Board of the World Bankfrom 1997 to 2002. Before that he directedeconomic development cooperation at the Swiss State Secretariat for Economic Affairs (SECO) and was head of an operational division at the Inter-American Development Bank. He started his career as young professional and field economist at the World Bank and then at SECO. He is a lawyer and economist by training.
