Former GCSP Staff Named Advisor of the Finnish President

Counsellor Petri Hakkarainen DPhil who has worked in the Finnish Ministry of Foreign Affairs since 2006 has been appointed Foreign Policy Adviser to the President of the Republic in Finland, taking up the position on 1 March 2018.

Petri Hakkarainen is a former GCSP Staff member who worked within the Emerging Security Challenges Programme at the GCSP from 2015-2017. While at the GCSP he co-authored a publication on 'Trust and Realpolitik: The OSCE in 2016.' Upon his departure, Petri Hakkarainen shared in his testimonial, what the GCSP taught him: ‘the mind-set, skillset, toolset approach, the exposure to new ideas and above all the spirit of constantly staying open to learning more and questioning one’s own assumptions.’ 

GCSP is a place where experts, practitioners and academics come together to educate, generate dialogue and analyse policy. Thought-leadership and forward-thinking solutions drive the centre’s approach to tackling 21st century challenges, which is foundational to participants’ experiences within the executive education courses GCSP offers.
