GCSP Senior Programme Advisor Weighs In After Paris Attack

In an interview with Chinese TV station Phoenix News, Geneva Centre for Security Policy (GCSP) Senior Programme Advisor Mr Marc Finaud detailed his take on the most recent attack in Paris, France last week.

Mr Finaud explained how demographic trends, combined with the radicalisation of Muslims occurring in French prisons, contributed to the attack, which left one police officer dead last Friday.

“It was clearly linked to the electoral campaign, the presidential campaign, to attract more media coverage, more attention, and reach the goal of most terrorists - that is to scare people, to de-stabilize societies, and to benefit some of the more right-wing candidates that are trying to instrumentalise these incidents,” he said in the interview.
