On Monday 30 April, Marc Finaud's contribution was featured on SRF1, SRF2 and SFR4 News.
At the end of May, Syria will take over the presidency of the UN Conference on Disarmament in Geneva. Of all countries, Syria - the country whose government is accused of having used chemical weapons. This may represent a serious image damage to the UN.
Marc Finaud explains that the presidency is regulated by the Conference's statutes. The Syrian chairmanship is thus the result of an alphabetical turn in this role which, at this point in time, follows Switzerland for a period of 6 weeks. Finaud speaks of an unfortunate coincidence and says that several states might consider a boycott.
