Marc Finaud Explains the Issues at the NPT Preparatory Committee Meeting

In an interview with Chinese TV station Phoenix News, Geneva Centre for Security Policy (GCSP) Senior Programme Advisor Mr Marc Finaud expounded on the issues raised during the most recent The Preparatory Committee for the 2020 Review Conference of the Parties to the Treaty on the Non-Proliferation of Nuclear Weapons (NPT), held in Vienna from 2 to 12 May 2017.

The questions raised by Phoenix TV ranged from the intentions and politics of North Korea, the prospect of nuclear terrorism, the reality of a Nuclear Weapons Ban Treaty, and more general questions about the situation in the Middle East today. All of these issues featured heavily at the Preparatory Committee meeting, the first of three planned sessions to occur before the 2020 NPT Review Conference.

During the session, the GCSP and the Academic Peace Orchestra Middle East (APOME) hosted two panel discussions, on "Concrete Steps for Paving the Way to the Resumption of a Meaningful Communication and (Pre-)Conference Process" and on "Assessing the Transformative Potential of the JCPOA."
