The GCSP publishes new issues of its ‘Policy Forum’ series on a WMD-free Zone in the Middle East

During the May 2018 Geneva session of the Non-Proliferation Treaty (NPT) Review Conference Preparatory Committee (PrepCom) the GCSP co-organised a side event with its partners (Academic Orchestra Middle East, Friedrich Ebert Stiftung Geneva Office, and Deutsche Stiftung Friedensforschung). On this occasion, a scholar from Egypt, Mona Ahmed Saleh, and a scholar from Israel, Shemuel Meir, presented papers on new Egyptian and Israeli approaches to the issue of a WMD-free Zone in the Middle East. They advocate parallel tracks for informal dialogue allowing both sides to take into consideration their national security concerns while promoting disarmament in the region.
