From 7 to 28 April 2018 the GCSP has hosted a delegation from Myanmar for a three-week course on International Relations and Human Security. This course covered a wide spectrum of international relations issues and human security. The participants were representatives from various government ministries, from the parliament, political parties, the Armed Forces, ethnic groups, and civil society organizations from Myanmar. The objective was to provide training to young and mid-career professionals . The areas discussed were good governance, negotiation/mediation, international law including human rights, and human security. The course goal was to increase the knowledge, skills and strategizing capacity of the participants. The teaching methodology combined lectures, exercises, peer-to-peer learning, and field visit (Geneva city authorities, UN organizations based in Geneva, ICRC and a study trip to Bern). A large number of presentations were given by GCSP staff members and DCAF partners. The participants highly appreciated the interactive discussions and the themes addressed during the course. This successful outcome, like the five previous iterations of the course, is a tribute to the GCSP and DCAF abilities to create tailor-made courses.
