Now in its 4th edition, the Countering Violent Extremism (CVE) in the Media Course continues to build knowledge and skills for Officials from the Thai National Broadcasting and Telecommunications Commission (NBTC). The latest course was held on 18-21 July, 2017.
The course focused on practical group exercises, especially tailored to the needs of officials working on media content regulation and counter-terrorism. It enabled participants to understand current global trends in CVE, with an emphasis on the Malay-Muslim insurgency in the three southern provinces of Thailand. The course builds on the participants’ skills in research and analysis to respond appropriately to challenges of CVE in the media.
The 2017 course demonstrates the GCSP’s continuing connections across Southeast Asia. Following the successful completion of previous courses in October 2015, October 2016, and April 2017, the GCSP has solidified its cooperation with Thailand. It has open up more opportunities to deliver courses across the wider region and demonstrates the global impact of GCSP’s expertise.
