The leadership module, commissioned by the German General Staff College (Führungsakademie der Bundeswehr), in Hamburg, was held at the GCSP from Wednesday 20 to Friday 22 April 2016. This module is a longstanding cornerstone in the good cooperation between GCSP and the Führungsakademie.
Led by Brigadier General and Director of Faculty Thomas Hambach, 16 Colonels or civilian equivalents joined the GCSP to share their insights into International Geneva.
Organised by GCSP's Senior Programme Advisor Colonel (GS) Stefan C.P. Hinz, the course paid a visit to the Headquarters of the World Economic Forum (WEF) at Cologny. The promotion was proudly welcomed by Professor Klaus Schwab, the founder of the WEF in person. In his keynote speech, Prof. Schwab explained the role of the Forum in the world as a platform and its current conceptual input, "The Fourth Industrial Revolution".
Course participants also had the opportunity to exchange with GCSP's Deputy Director and Academic Dean, Professor Mohammad-Mahmoud Ould-Mohamedou, on the roots and the consequences of transnational terrorism.
A visit to the nearby headquarters of the UN's refugee agency (UNHCR) and a briefing by the Acting German Ambassador to the Office of the United Nations and to the other international organisations in Geneva, H.E. Amb. Ulrich Seidenberger, from the German Permanent Mission in Geneva, complemented the course programme.
