The purpose of the Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) signed on 17 September 2015 at the Maison de la paix is to promote and expand the framework of cooperation between GCSP and the Emergency Services Branch (ESB) of the United Nations Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs (OCHA).
ESB/OCHA is responsible for preparing, mobilising and coordinating the deployment of OCHA’s international rapid response capacities to provide assistance to countries affected by natural disasters and other emergencies.
GCSP, through its Regional Development Programme, has been working with ESB/OCHA on a variety of occasions, most recently on the launch of the new United Nations Humanitarian Civil-Military Coordination field handbook.
Through the partnership agreement, GCSP and ESB/OCHA acknowledge the central role of executive education, applied policy research and dialogue to enable both humanitarian and military actors to provide the right support to the right people, at the right time, in the most appropriate way.
The GCSP is engaged in partnerships with numerous leading international organisations, think tanks, and academic institutes to collaborate on a variety of activities aimed at providing forward-thinking and creative solutions in international affairs to individuals and institutions worldwide.
