Three Geneva Centres in Maison de la paix welcome Swiss Federal Councillor.
On 12 April, Swiss Federal Councillor and Head of the Federal Department of Foreign Affairs, Mr Ignazio Cassis, visited the three Centres of Maison de la Paix, in Geneva. A half-day programme included presentations from the Geneva International Centre for Humanitarian Demining (GICHD), Geneva Centre for Security Policy (GCSP), and the Centre for the Democratic Control of Armed Forces (DCAF). Each Centre, supported by the Swiss Confederation, is housed in the Maison de la paix, a place to meet, reflect and act.
While visiting the GCSP, Mr Cassis had the chance to have an informal discussion with sixteen Fellows part the Global Fellowship Initiative; interact with participants from Myanmar attending the Course on International Relations and Human Security; meet participants from the 19th edition of the New Issues in International Security course; and finally, engage with officials attending a course on Building Capacities for Effective Implementation of the Arms Trade Treaty.
“The GCSP is a platform for education and dialogue in peace and security,” declared Mr Cassis, “the Centre represents a key Swiss Contribution to support international collaboration towards peace, security and global governance.”
