Geopolitics and Global Futures Symposium 2024
Please note that the dates of the course needs to be confirmed!
Structured to examine the connections among the various dimensions of global security, the Symposium recognises that a broad range of security issues must be analysed simultaneously in order to understand, prepare for, and respond to current and future challenges.
This course is composed of three modules:
- The Future of Outer Space Security - Module 1 - will cover outer space security, multilateral space governance, and both the traditional and emerging actors in this field.
- Neurophilosophy of Global Security – Module 2 - will be dedicated to the neurophilosophy of global security, examining how recent developments in neuroscience shed light on human nature, and can help us to better comprehend individual and state behaviour.
- Transformative Technologies and the Future of Global Security – Module 3 - will explore transformative technologies, their security ramifications, and the ethical challenges that they pose.
The three modules of the course can be followed separately or together.
The course reflects the Geopolitics and Global Futures Programme’s aims of examining the multiple dimensions of global security, identifying and analysing transformative technologies, outer space security and its relationship to terrestrial security, and using insights from neuroscience and philosophy to further our understanding of international affairs.
From the frontiers of outer space to emerging transformative technologies, this course will explore the multiple dimensions of global security and incorporate insights from neuroscience into our understanding of contemporary international affairs.
This examination will bring current global challenges into sharper focus while emphasizing the need for new paradigms to understand, prepare for and respond to the challenges of the future.
