The International Gender Champions is a leadership network that brings together female & male decision-makers determined to break down gender barriers and make gender equality a working reality in their spheres of influence. The initiative was launched at the Palais des Nations in Geneva in July 2015. The network now numbers over 235 active Champions and 110 Alumni who are the heads of International Organizations, Permanent Missions, and Civil Society Organizations, in Geneva, New York, Vienna, Den Haag, Nairobi and Paris. The Project Officer provides essential support to the Head of IGC Secretariat to achieve the initiative’s success. More specifically:

  • Support the governance of the initiative, liaising regularly with the office of the Chair of the Global Board and the Head of the Secretariat, to meet objectives and support the expansion of the network and deepening of impact.
  • Schedule and organise biannual meetings of the Global Board, suggest agendas, prepare minutes and take follow up actions as requested by the members of the Board.
  • Develop and maintain online platforms and procedures to efficiently manage the activities of the secretariat and enable reporting, and coordinate the network of Champions and focal points.
  • Manage the sign up of Champions, and communicate with Focal Points and the Champions team in Geneva and other Hubs as required.
  • Manage IGC’s social media channels, making sure that timely and newsworthy content is posted daily on Twitter and Facebook, run periodic campaigns and monitor Champions’ and member organisations’ social media activity to amplify as appropriate.
  • Maintain the website, draft and upload news items to the website, to ensure the Champions profiles are up to date and the activities of the network and of its members are promoted.
  • Organise the biannual Champions meetings and quarterly Focal Points meetings in Geneva and circulate summaries of the meetings.
  • Assist new hubs, train coordinators, organise biannual hub coordinators meetings and ensure that the activities of other hubs are reflected and promoted on the website and IGC’s social media channels.
  • Prepare the Annual Survey and Quick Questions on the Panel Parity Pledge, inform focal points when the Survey is open and follow up to maximise reporting. Collect, compile and analyse answers for presentation in Annual Report.
  • Set a timeline for the timely publication of the annual report, collate inputs, contribute to the drafting the content and liaise with graphic designers for the layout, design, printing and distribution of the Annual Report.
  • Build and maintain relationships with key members of the network, partners and funders to exchange information on the growth of the network, strategic direction and events.

You will have the following skills and competencies:

  • MA in International Relations, Development Studies, Political Science, Economics, International Humanitarian Law or other relevant fields.
