Dr Anatole Ayissi

Anatole Ayissi is a career diplomat and United Nations staff member. He has served in various United Nations positions over the last 20 years, including as a Project Officer, Small Arms and Light Weapons Counter-Proliferation, at the United Nations Institute for Disarmament Research (UNIDIR) in Geneva; Senior Policy Advisor, United Nations Office for West Africa (UNOWA), Dakar, Senegal; Policy Analyst, Bureau for Crisis Prevention and Recovery (BCPR), United Nations Development Program (UNDP), New York. He is currently the Cabinet Director of the Special Representative of the UN Secretary-General at the UN Regional Office for Central Africa (UNOCA) in Libreville, Gabon. Anatole Ayissi holds a PhD in International Relations from the Institute of International Relations of Cameroon. He is a former Fulbright Fellow of the University of Pennsylvania, Philadelphia (USA), and Associate Researcher at the Thucydide Center - Analysis and Research in International Relations, University Paris 2 Panthéon-Assas. He has published extensively on issues of peace, security and preventive diplomacy in Africa. His current work focuses on preventive diplomacy and the challenges of electoral violence in Central Africa and the Great Lakes region.
