A Swiss foreign service officer, Stéphane Rey is currently a member of the UN Secretary-General’s Peacebuilding Fund Advisory Group. Until recently, he headed the Peace and Human Rights Division’s geographic domain, leading all peace processes and peace-related activities in the State Secretariat of Foreign Affairs. Previous roles include Deputy Head of Mission in Tehran, Head of Political Affairs, Peace & Security at the Permanent Mission of Switzerland to the UN in New York and Deputy Head of the Security Council and Political Affairs Unit in the UN Division in Bern. A graduate of the London School of Economics and Political Science, Stéphane also worked in the field as a delegate for the International Committee of the Red Cross (in Afghanistan and Sierra Leone) and as a policy officer at UN Headquarters in New York. He has completed certificates in humanitarian diplomacy and in modern Middle Eastern languages.
