Ana Dantas is an Erasmus Mundus Scholarship holder on the Security, Intelligence and Strategic Studies MA at the University of Glasgow. She simultaneously undertook and completed a 4-year bachelor degree in Defence and Strategic Studies at the Federal University of Rio de Janeiro, and a 4-year bachelor degree in International Relations at the Brazilian Institute of Capital Markets. She is the co-founder of Karnak, an award-winning educational non-profit project for minority youth groups in Brazil. Moreover, she has worked as a military diplomat assistant at the Brazilian Embassy in Moscow and a research assistant at the Brazilian Army Command School. Ana is fluent in Portuguese, English, Spanish, Italian, and intermediate in French. Having grown up in the Brazilian Atlantic Forest, her research and publications focus on the securitisation of the environment, Climate Change, and the security dimensions of deforestation in Latin America, which led her to be invited as a speaker in several events across Europe. From this, she represented the University of Glasgow in COP26 and was the only student indicated to participate in the Scotia Group Event to discuss the outcomes of the conference amongst world-wide specialists. She will be joining GCSP as a fellow on the Human Security, Climate and Health cluster.
