Mia Therese Jamili is a public-private partnerships strategist, programme oversight lead, and communications manager currently based in Switzerland whose work and research interests reside in leveraging business and technology to further enhance the efficiency, effectiveness, and accountability of government and international organizations and to improve the overall state of the world. For the private sector, she has previously served as an Assistant Vice President within the Chief Risk & Compliance Officer Division of Swiss investment bank Credit Suisse specializing in programme oversight, anti-bribery & corruption, and sanctions compliance as well as a Risk and Financial Advisory Consultant at Deloitte working on legal and government relations projects with legal compliance and information governance needs in their Office of General Counsel Portfolio. For the public sector, she has served as a Senior Project Performance Analyst for New York City government’s various interagency projects in sustainability, tech innovation, data analytics, and economic opportunity affecting over 8 million citizens as well as a Federal Services Innovation Champion and Programme & Project Management Specialist for the global management consulting firm Accenture where she conducted employee engagement communications and coached teams aiming to provide digital transformation and innovation in government agencies and multilateral and nonprofit institutions in Washington DC and across North America along with co-editing a corporate social responsibility research publication on private sector investments in economic development, education, and health for the Georgetown Institute for Women, Peace, and Security. Having witnessed the positive impact of international organizations firsthand while growing up in the Global South, Mia has additionally interned for the UN Office of Legal Affairs, worked as a consultant for the United Nations Secretariat’s Department of Management on a significant organizational change management initiative, promoted the Sustainable Development Goals agenda as an Officer for the U.S. Fund for UNICEF, volunteered as an SDG financing proposal editor for the UN Development Programme Asia-Pacific Regional Hub, and advocated as a UN Youth Delegate for the Global Campaign for Education with former UN Secretary-General Ban Ki-Moon’s Education First Initiative. Mia completed a BA in Interdisciplinary Studies at the University of California, Berkeley with a Computer Science research assistantship and a Business, Public Affairs, and Public Policy residency at the Washington Campus and pursued professional studies in Strategic Communications, Marketing, and Media Management at New York University. She later received a scholarship in the Executive Master of Public Administration with a Specialization in Tech, Media, and Communications programme at Columbia University School of International and Public Affairs, in which she successfully completed a Sustainability Management course with the Columbia University Earth Institute and was designated Managing Editor and Communications Chair for the Columbia Public Policy Review. Always eager to immerse herself in and to develop cooperation between different cultures, Mia has furthermore done postgraduate studies at ETH Zürich in Switzerland and the University of Oxford in the United Kingdom as well as participated as a Global Markets & Economy Delegate for the Harvard Project for Asian & International Relations. She holds certificates in International Law and Public Diplomacy from the United Nations Institute for Training and Research and a certificate in Media & Arts for Peace from the U.S. Institute of Peace and the Geneva Centre for Security Policy. Mia is a Young Leader in Foreign & Security Policy Fellow at the Geneva Centre for Security Policy.
