Location matters. We think of Silicon Valley for entrepreneurship or London for finance. For fresh perspectives on international affairs and governance, there is no better location than Geneva – the capital of peace and a worldwide centre for multilateral diplomacy.

Housed within the Maison de la paix, Geneva’s wealth of knowledge and experience is at GCSP’s doorstep. Being based in such a prestigious location provides vast opportunities.

GCSP leverages Geneva’s assets in all its activities. Prominent guests frequently speak to course and event participants, and GCSP facilitates meetings with other international organisations. The city also provides countless networking opportunities, both within the GCSP and outside.

Quick facts:

  • 2,700+ diplomatic meetings every year (more than 7 a day)
  • ~200,000 visiting delegates
  • 250+ non-governmental organisations, 34 international organisations, 172 permanent missions and numerous multi-national corporations
  • 30,000 employees in the international sector
  • European headquarters of the United Nations
  • Consistently ranking among the top five most liveable cities in the world

L'Esprit de Genève

In the early 16th Century, Geneva established its longstanding identity as a city of sanctuary and refuge for ideas and beliefs, and for the people who espoused them. Initially embracing and protecting victims of religious persecution during the Reformation, this tradition of mutual tolerance and openness has continued into the 21st century. With its spirit of tolerance, neutrality and discretion, Geneva has become a space where people with differences can meet for open dialogue about critical issues.
