Junior Programme Officer, Gender and Inclusive Security

Full time, 1 year contract

The incumbent will be working on tailored executive education courses and projects within the Gender and Inclusive Security Cluster as well as participating in other Center wide activities in the security policy realm. This will include project management, thematic research, preparation of training materials, marketing and the organization of the tailored courses and events. More specifically:  

  • Support the Cluster to integrate a gendered lens into GCSP’s courses and activities, on a wide range of security topics and in leadership education;
  • Support the advancement of the Women Peace and Security Agenda through the development of tailored course offerings, partnerships, project proposals, articles and policy briefs;
  • Provide excellent project coordination, course and event management and be responsible for the end-to-end customer experience of participants for courses, workshops and dialogue events in our Geneva center and elsewhere (within Switzerland and overseas) as required;
  • Prepare course and event materials, course reports and evaluation activities;
  • Assist in the creation of high-quality communication and promotional materials to increase awareness of our work, and help generate new beneficiary and funding leads;
  • Perform other responsibilities as required in support of developing and delivering the objectives of the Gender and Inclusive Security cluster and the Centre’s activities.

You will have the following skills and competencies:

  • A university degree in an area related to international relations, law, political or social sciences or related fields (relevant vocational qualifications alongside additional years of project management can be considered in lieu).
  • Proven knowledge of gender related policies and the Women, Peace and Security Agenda and experience of working in or with a conflict affected or fragile state;
  • Two years relevant experience of project management, events and related reporting activities. Ideally in an educational environment.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills and proficiency in spoken and written English is essential. Additional languages including French and Arabic are desirable.
  • Excellent organizational skills, a customer service mindset and attention to detail.
  • Ability to develop collaborative professional relationships with colleagues, partners and customers from diverse professional sectors and cultures; respect for diversity.
  • Ability to work autonomously with a minimum of guidance.
  • EU or Swiss citizen or holder of a valid Swiss work permit.
