Malayah’s career focuses on driving transformative change to tackle inequality and meet the Sustainable Development Goal. She brings expertise and executive leadership in community movement building, youth empowerment, gender equality, global public health and partnership building. As the Chief Executive Officer of the World YWCA (a 150 year old global social movement for women, young women and girls in 109 countries) she led its modernisation and the development of the strategy to operationalize its long term vision. Prior to that she held diplomatic posts with UNAIDS, serving in Uganda, Kenya, South Africa and Switzerland. She has worked with WHO and the World Bank and DFID (UK Aid). In the latter capacity she led the establishment of the governments first Access to Medicines Partnership with the UK pharmaceutical industry. Malayah is global champion for women’s rights, an intersectional feminist and a strong voice in #Metoo and safeguarding. Most recently, Malayah’s passion and expertise has extended to helping to create new forms of social movements and social impact. She was a founding Board Member for SheDecides established in 2016 and serves on the Panel of Chief Advisors for Fair Share Women Leaders. She is an International Gender Champion alumni.
