Amb. Jean-Marc Boulgaris

Ambassador Jean-Marc Boulgaris is an Associate Fellow within the Global Fellowship Initiative of the GCSP. Ambassador Boulgaris is a retired Swiss diplomat who is now working for the United Nation Institute for Training and Research (UNITAR) and trains diplomats from all over the world.

As a Swiss diplomat he was posted in Cairo, Geneva EFTA/GATT, India, Paris OECD, Bern, New York UN Mission, Paris (Embassy). Amongst his numerous functions during his career he was the Deputy of the Secretary of State at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs in Bern from 1995 to 1998. He has also served as Ambassador to Colombia and Denmark and was the first Permanent Representative of Switzerland to the United Nations and other International Organizations in Geneva when Switzerland joined the United Nations in 2002.

He chaired the Executive Committee of the UNHCR (2003-2004) and was a Member of the Board of Trustees of UNITAR (2003-2008).

Ambassador Boulgaris has a long experience in multilateral diplomacy.
