Profile

Mr Baudouin Ngah Akoh is an Executive-in-Residence with the Global Fellowship Initiative of the Geneva Centre for Security Policy (GCSP). He brings more than fourteen years of expertise in security, political affairs, and peacebuilding, with extensive service across the United Nations system and international diplomacy.

At the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) in Cameroon, he serves as National Liaison and Security Officer, where he leads strategic security risk assessments, facilitates humanitarian access in high-risk areas, and provides security briefings to senior UN officials and international partners. He also acts as Officer-in-Charge for the United Nations Department for Safety and Security (UNDSS) in Cameroon, coordinating Area Security Management Team briefings and leading joint field missions with UNICEF, OCHA, UNHCR, ILO, and WFP to ensure safe humanitarian access in conflict-affected regions.

Mr. Akoh has contributed to international disarmament and arms control processes, including active participation in the Working Group on the Biological Weapons Convention (BWC) and the Meeting of States Parties (MSP) in Geneva. His areas of expertise span Responsible AI in the Military Domain, arms control and disarmament, crisis management, humanitarian coordination, and gender-inclusive security strategies. He has been recognized as an expert participant in the United Nations Institute for Disarmament Research (UNIDIR) Responsible AI in the Military Domain (REAIM) Consultations in Nairobi and as a Panelist at the UNIDIR Global Conference on AI, Security and Ethics at the United Nations Office at Geneva. In addition, the Africa Center for Strategic Studies (ACSS) has recognized him as an expert on Artificial Intelligence Strategy in the Security Sector.

His professional training includes diplomacy and protocol at the International Relations Institute of Cameroon (IRIC); United Nations Senior Mission Leadership, Defence Attaché training and Integrated Mission Planning Training at the International Peace Support Training Centre (IPSTC), Nairobi, Kenya; and mediation and negotiation at the Clingendael Institute of International Relations, The Hague, Netherlands. He holds a Master of Science in Sustainable Development with a specialization in Peace, Conflict, and International Relations from the Pan-African Institute for Development-West Africa (PAID-WA), as well as a Master of Business Administration (MBA) in Human Resource Management and Employee Relations from the Catholic University Institute of Buea (CUIB), Cameroon. Mr. Akoh is the author of several publications on diplomacy, disarmament, and security, including research on AI-guided Lethal Autonomous Weapons Systems (LAWS) and Small arms proliferation in Africa. Fluent in English and French, he continues to advance innovative approaches to peacebuilding, conflict resolution, and the responsible governance of emerging technologies in international security.
