Profile

Yusaku Fukuhara is a Government Fellow within the Global Fellowship initiative of the GCSP.


Yusaku is a political scientist and diplomat, currently working at the Japanese Embassy to Ukraine in Kyiv. Previously, he worked at the UN Liaison Office for Peace and Security (UNLOPS) in Brussels, the Japanese Mission to the EU, and the Japanese Ministry of Foreign Affairs in Tokyo on various matters relating to the EU, NATO and Russia. He also worked temporarily at the UN Interim Administration Mission in Kosovo (UNMIK).


Yusaku is fluent in Japanese, English, French, and Russian and holds a Ph.D. specialised in Russian and East European Studies from the University of Tokyo.
