Ms Célia Cherel
Célia Cherel is a French national who holds a Master’s degree in International and Development Studies from the Geneva Graduate Institute, where she specialised in Conflict, Peace, and Security. During her studies, she developed a strong interest in how emerging technologies, such as artificial intelligence, are reshaping global security and governance.
Before joining the Geopolitics and Global Futures Department as an intern, Célia gained experience at Graduate Women International (GWI), where she supported event organisation, communications, and advocacy initiatives promoting women’s rights and access to education. As a UN Representative for GWI, she also attended the 59th session of the Human Rights Council. In addition, she contributed to a research project with UPR Info on parliamentary engagement in the Universal Periodic Review.
Earlier in her academic journey, Célia served as Head of the Human Resources Department at the Swiss Diplomacy Student Association during her Bachelor’s degree at the University of Geneva, where she honed her organisational and leadership skills.
In her current role within the Geopolitics and Global Futures Department, Célia is deepening her understanding of the emerging challenges shaping global peace and security, while contributing to the coordination and facilitation of online events and courses.
