Global health security has evolved significantly in recent years. While the COVID-19 pandemic highlighted the profound consequences of health emergencies, today's security environment is shaped by a broader range of interconnected challenges, including geopolitical instability, fragile systems, emerging technologies, antimicrobial resistance, climate-related risks and shifting patterns of international cooperation. At the same time, changes in the global financing landscape, including pressures on official development assistance and international health investments, are creating new challenges for sustaining preparedness, resilience and collective action.
This executive course provides security and health professionals with a strategic understanding of global health security not only as a public health priority, but as an international security challenge. It explores how governments, international organisations and other stakeholders can strengthen preparedness, resilience and coordinated responses in an increasingly complex environment shaped by political, economic and security dynamics.
Through expert discussions, case studies and interactive learning approaches, participants examine governance frameworks, cross-sectoral partnerships and leadership approaches required to anticipate, manage and respond to health security challenges at national, regional and global levels.
Now in its 11th edition, the Global Health Security Course brings together professionals from diverse sectors and regions to explore the evolving intersection between health, security and international affairs.
Combining expert insights, interactive discussions, practical case studies and peer exchange, the course provides participants with strategic perspectives and practical tools to strengthen decision-making, collaboration and leadership in addressing complex health security challenges.
