Colonel Joachim Isacsson
Colonel Joachim Isacsson is a Swedish Marine permanently posted to the UK MOD Military Strategic Headquarters, Defence Futures (previously DCDC) since 2013, where he is co-leading the Strategic Foresight Team. The Strategic Foresight Team is responsible for the Global Strategic Trends programme which informs forward looking British, and partners, policy, strategy, and force development. Joachim is a graduate from the Swedish National Defence University in Stockholm and the Leadership in International Security Course at the Geneva Centre for Security Policy in Switzerland. Apart from the Swedish Amphibious Corps, Joachim has had several senior staff appointments in the Swedish Defence Staff and internationally, served as advisor to the Latvian Defence Staff, as well as Senior Lecturer in Strategic Studies at the Swedish National Defence University. Joachim has experience from a number of military operations, and as advisor to several SSR and Peace Support Operations training programs in Africa. He was designated as DCDC guest researcher at the Japanese MOD National Institute for Defence Studies in Tokyo 2018. March 2023 Joachim was appointed an Honorary Officer of the Most Excellent Order of the British Empire. Joachim is married and has four children. His favourite interests are military history and trekking.
