Profile

Giovanna Maria Dora Dore is an Associate Teaching Professor and Associate Director of the Program in East Asian Studies at the Krieger School of Arts and Sciences of the Johns Hopkins University. She is the author of three books A Free Press, If You Can Keep It. What Natural Language Processing Reveals About Press Freedom in Hong Kong (Springer 2023), Asia Struggles with Democracy (Routledge 2016), and Incomplete Democracies in the Asia-Pacific: Evidence from Indonesia, Korea, the Philippines and Thailand (Palgrave Macmillan 2014). She holds a PhD from the Johns Hopkins University—SAIS, a MA in International Relations and International Economics from the Johns Hopkins University—SAIS, and a BA-MSc in Contemporary Philosophy, Politics, and Economics from the Catholic University of Milan.
